Winter events in the Smokies may not be quite as plentiful as summer and fall events, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find plenty to do and see in the area!

Christmas displays at the NC ArboretumOmni Grove, and Biltmore House continue through January 4, 2020. The Cataloochee Ski Area will also be open for tubing and skiing (weather permitting) through March.

Run In 2020 5k

Get a jump start on those New Year’s resolutions with options for a timed or untimed 5k or a half mile fun run. Awards for top overall male and female as well as various age groups.

Iceless Ice Skate

Enjoy outdoor skating on a synthetic rink or try your hand at curling. Open 1pm-6pm with food vendors and other concessions possible.

Downtown Abbey Exhibit at Biltmore House

This gorgeous exhibit showcases the fashions and historic events of the time period featured in the hit show Downtown Abbey. Includes interactive elements about the characters of the show.

Old Time Music Jam

Bring an acoustic musical instrument or simply enjoy the traditional Appalachian music at this bi-monthly event.

Affrilachian Traveling Studio

This exhibit features six African American artists with work celebrating living in the Appalachian mountains in a array of mediums.

Chili Cookoff

Spend your long weekend tasting dozens of different chilis during this chili stroll. A shuttle will take you between Main Street, Hazelwood, and Frog Level, allowing you to visit all three of our charming downtown areas.

WCC Debut Comedy Showcase

Enjoy live performances by Clinton Ricks, Rowan Young, and Brad Satvia during this comedy showcase at the Gem by Boojum Brewing starting at 8pm. Live music to follow. The Gem is 21+.
