November is our favorite month because its when the Christmas tree farms open!

Just a few of the events, festivals, and shows going on in and around Waynesville for November 2019.

WNC Pottery Festival

This annual event showcases more than 40 master potters, features demonstrations on a variety of techniques. The festival will take place in Sylva instead of Dillsboro this year due to road work and runs from 10am-5pm at the Sylva Bridge Park.

Bonus event – check out the Clay Olympics the Friday before the Pottery Festival to see potters compete in categories like “tallest cylinder” and even a blindfolded event!

Location: Bridge Park, Sylva NC

Cost: $5 per person, 12 and under free


Saturday and Sunday, November 2-3, 2019

Rumble in the Rhododendron

The last fishing tournament of the season in Cherokee, this fly fishing competition is for teams of two and offers a payout up to $10,000. The competition takes place in a section of Cherokee waters known as Raven Fork and you must register ahead of time.

Location: Cherokee, NC

Cost: $250 entry fee

BRACA Christmas Show

The Haywood County Fairgrounds host a craft show perfect for getting a start on your holiday gift giving. Featuring local crafters with handmade products including jewelry, baskets, wood work, paintings, and more!

Jingle Bell Market

This one day craft market features some of the best of WNC’s local artists. Peruse pottery, artwork, woodwork, jewelry, home décor, and more. Open from 9am-3pm.

Location: Haywood County Fairgrounds, Waynesville, NC

Cost: $2 per person, 16 and under free

Christmas Tree Farms Open

WNC is known for our beautiful mountains and those mountains are perfect for growing gorgeous Fraser Fir Christmas Trees. There are many farms in the area including Boyd Mountain FarmsSmoky Mountain Tree Farm, and Mehaffey Tree Farm. Check each farm for specific hours.

Thanksgiving at the Red Leaf River Inn

We invite all our guests to join us for our family Thanksgiving dinner! Whether the kids have all “flown the nest” or you just don’t want to listen to Uncle Joe’s political talk, we welcome you Inn to be part of our family.

32nd Annual Hard Candy Christmas

Kick off the Christmas season with a traditional holiday craft show put on by the Mountain Artisans Fine Arts and Crafts Show. Fresh wreaths will be available along with offerings from professional potters, woodworkers, and textile artists.

Location: Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC

Cost: $5 for the weekend, 12 and under free

Maggie Gets Lit

Follow Santa to town hall for pictures, then spend the afternoon exploring a festive Maggie Valley before Miss Maggie herself flips the switch on the Christmas lights at 6pm.

Location: Maggie Valley, NC

Cost: Free to attend
